Yes, DLL Hell was horrendous. Although I never used Turbo Pascal, I can relate to the feeling of a simpler time — for me, that was learning on QuickBASIC as a teenager. Note that I’d choose to go back there today, but there’s something to be said for a straightforward platform that — as you say — “does what it says on the box.”
