Well, it may not make sense for me to tell people how they should take my article. (There’s nothing worse than being offended and then told “but I wasn’t trying to be offensive!”) But I will say this: the coding “sins” in this article are exaggerated to the point of satire. No one sets out planning to copy random bits of code from Stack Overflow. But sometimes we indulge a bad idea, and then another, and then there we are, knee deep in a familiar problem.

In other words, I think we can laugh at this article because it rings true — most have us have experienced these headaches from other people, and occasionally from ourselves! Hopefully, laughing helps the pain go away. If not, you can go on to read something more practical about refactoring and code improvement next. 🙂
