Wait, have you never had a plugin break after a routine update? A theme that you love become abandoned a year after you’ve adopted it, leaving you without other enhancements you’d like (say, better mobile support)? Have you never made a live change to the design of your site, then wished you had a way to rollback or at least review a previous iteration (and no, child themes doesn’t solve that problem)?

Perhaps you are a far better (or luckier) developer than me, but — with the exception of a hacked site — all of these pain points have pricked me before.
