Very true. I’ve had people tell me, with a straight face, if Hillary didn’t kill people (referring to an alt-right theory that Hillary has had Americans assassinated), why would anyone make it up? People underestimate both the amount of money you can make from selling a conspiracy theory, and how powerful a motivation it is for some people (especially those who feel marginalized) to get attention in any form.
