Also, I wonder what you think about YA fiction like the hugely successful “The Fault in Our Stars.” It seems to me that when there is a theme of cancer (or any disease), too often the author is pulled in the direction of writing a tragedy. I think that is the real problem with the representation of sickness in kids’ fiction.
