This is a very helpful insight. Young-Earth creationism is a surprisingly durable ideology, so its appeal can’t be explained as just a matter of religious teaching. It sounds like creationism speaks to the yearning we have to understand the world and— even more than that — to believe that there is a real, concrete significance to the feeling of wonder the world inspires. I’ll be sure to check out We Believe In Dinosaurs!
