My children spent many years in a Montessori school as well and the “follow your child” advice is golden. It’s also a good visualization : following means you are *behind* — not just letting your child lead but letting them face challenges, frustrations, and even failure on their own before you step in. And when you want to step in, think twice (especially in social interactions), because that’s a sure way to have your child learn less from whatever experience is in front of them. It’s easy to say but often hard to follow in real life.
Thanks for writing such a thoughtful article!
