I’m a bit of a weight loss skeptic (it’s hard, it usually doesn’t last, it doesn’t necessarily bring health benefits). I feel like it’s better to reframe the issue as gaining health rather than losing weight. Instead of removing “bad” things from your diet, concentrate on adding good stuff that may eventually crowd out the junk. Look to set a goal with some activity (number of steps, time taken to do a physical activity) and improve it.
And forget the “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” nonsense, which has everything to do with social acceptance and nothing to do with health. The stigma, judgments, and shaming around being overweight can be crippling, and they are no help to anyone.
