I don't disagree, but I think this would have been a more interesting discussion if we focused on VB.NET. Everyone who uses VBA immediately understands it is just for Office and legacy stuff--I think the last VBA update was in 2010, so hardly a thriving ecosystem. Yes, the editor is terrible by modern standards. It predates Flash!

But VBA and VB.NET don't have much in common other than some superficial syntactic similarities and a common lineage (they split apart 20 years ago). I wrote about Microsoft's de-emphasis of VB.NET here.
