I do occasional “out of stream” backups to other media, but I’ve yet to back up a backup!

Making whole “image” backups adds some neat features, like easy encryption & compression. But I was burned many years ago when a bad sector prevented me from accessing any part of a backup image, and ever since I’ve preferred backing up individual files, even though I logically know that the formats of today (VHD) are probably much more robust.
