Hmm. I’m going to have to say I disagree. I actually endorse the Wikipedia article referred to here, which opens with this:

Pregnancy, also known as gestation, is the time during which one or more offspring develops inside a woman.”

In fact, this strikes me as a precise and reasonably complete description. I don’t think that changing it to “Pregnancy, also known as gestation, is the time during which one or more offspring develops inside a person” is an improvement except in the most fever-mad corner of linguistic paranoia.

Furthermore, the foggy-language argument Zimman presents “even if … why not use a less precise word” is wholly unconvincing. Am I better off pointing at a dog and saying “look at that mammal?” Would I be better to tell my dinner guests “we’re having a meal for dinner?” We can (and should!) allow for gender nonconformity in our society without feeling the need to divest the word “woman” of meaning.
