Fun fact: BMI was originally created by a mathematician to rank the obesity of populations of people and to measure trends over time. In that context, it’s actually a pretty good tool. (Before the BMI, there was no agreed upon way to quickly estimate the prevalence of obesity.) But there’s way too much variability in individual people for the BMI to make sense on a person-to-person basis, and the creator explicitly said it wasn’t meant to be used that way.
