Err… surely that is exactly what science is intended to do, and just as certainly all conclusions (what you call “answers”) are subject to doubt. In fact, this sounds like a pretty concise and accurate description of the scientific method! The fact is that food science is complicated and full of overgeneralization, marketing, dubious claims, confirmation basis, and every other example of junk science and poor research. But we can’t use bad science as an excuse to ignore science in favor of our instincts and “common sense,” or we will be worse off.
